Repeat Prescriptions

What is a Repeat Prescription?

A repeat prescription is a continuous supply of certain medication that you can routinely order for a set period of time without having to see a doctor.

The doctor will arrange for this medication to be available for you to order for a clinically appropriate length of time and you will then require a review.

We review any regular medication on a repeat prescription annually and wherever possible the doctor will do this without you having to attend the surgery.

If you have been advised by the surgery that your medication review is due, please complete our medication review form.

How do I order my Repeat Prescription?

Patients on long-term medication can order repeat prescriptions in a number of ways:

  • Online
  • In person – Please leave your repeat prescription slip marked with the medication you require to reception
  • By post – Please leave your repeat prescription slip marked with the medication you require to reception

Please be aware we do not accept prescription requests by telephone.

Please let us know the chemist of your choice for sending your request to.

Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and bank holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please contact the surgery.

Sending Prescriptions By Post

If you would like your prescription sent in the post, please enclose a stamped addressed envelope and allow time for postage. Please clearly mark where you would like your prescription sent.

Prescription Supply

In line with the Department of Health recommendations, you will only receive one or two months supply of any medication with each prescription. All prescriptions are issued generically and not by the pharmaceutical trade name.

Medication Review

It will be necessary to see your doctor from time to time to review your medication. This will be decided by the doctor and will show on your repeat slip. Please complete our online Medication Review form or make an appointment for review of your medication with your own doctor, wherever possible.

Repeat prescription requests are not taken during consultations. There is a box in the entrance porch for dropping off prescriptions.
